Felize Navidad

What’s up fam! Hope everyone had a good week, we had a pretty awesome week down here!

We are on bikes and not gonna lie it’s pretty fun, you see some pretty crazy things haha. We have been biking to less active members to see if they are home, because our area has a heck of a lot of less actives. We also have an investigator named Gilberto and he is super cool! His wife is a member but he isn’t and he has been taught by a lot missionaries, so we are trying to help him out little by little.

Other cool things that happened this week was that we where going to do service to help people out that are still recovering from the hurricane and on our way their the exit we had to take was closed and the detour took us into the heart of downtown haha! We got to see some pretty cool things their haha! Then the next day we went and took some pictures but some graffiti, because the stuff they got down here is crazy!

This Saturday we had our ward Christmas and it was off the chains haha! Us missionaries got to sing and we sang Rudolph in Spanish and a famous Christmas song for Hispanics called Mi burrito Sabenero. It was funny we where up their singing and we got the whole le ward singing with the us haha! That’s was pretty funny

On a spiritual side of things this week Elder Eckhardt and I had the opportunity to give about 9 blessings to members and missionaries! As I have been here on the mish the one thing I have noticed is that when you give blessings, you can feel the spirit so strong, and literally the presence of our Heavenly Father. I know without a doubt that we have his priesthood here on the earth.

Love you guys, and hope you have a great week! Feliz Navidad!

Snowing in Houston....

Yooo what’s up guys! Sorry I’ve been super crappy in writing letters... Things here have been pretty busy and what not, but I promise I will do better!

So I was transferred from Houston 7 to Broadway 3, and no lie Broadway is the place to be! My area covers right next to downtown Houston and from our apartment you can see the city skyline and it’s pretty sweet! The area is big and we are on bikes but hope hopefully we will get a car soon haha! Their are two Spanish wards here and they so cool! We went to Broadway 2’s Christmas party and we ate so much haha

So this week was pretty crazy! First off it SNOWED!!!! I thought I was going to go 2 years without seeing snow but I was wrong haha! And after it snowed it got super cold and it was not fun on bikes haha! When it gets cold here you can feel it in your bones and it gets heck a cold! But right now the weather is really nice!

I’m excited to be here in Broadway! I forgot to mention last week that I’m serving again with my boy Elder Lesā! He’s my boss lol but it’s all good he still ain’t a better baller than me ;)

I’m still happy to be here! Being a missionary has taught me a lot of things and I a, so grateful! I know the church is true and the Book of Mormon is the word of god! Also go out and find ways to
#LightTheWorld! Love you guys and have a great week!

Transferred to Broadway...

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t written in a bit but things here have been super busy not gonna lie!

Well I have left Houmont Park and I’m now here in Broadway 3! This place is so sick not gonna lie! We are right next to downtown and it’s cool to see! They say this is the promised land for Spanish missionaries because there are a lot of Hispanic people to talk to, so I’m pretty excited about that! My new companions name is Elder Eckhardt! He is a red head from Utah and he’s pretty cool.

I’m gonna miss everyone in Houston 7 no lie... I made so many friends there and I can’t wait to go back and visit them!

Last week we had zone conference and it was super good! President Hewlett talked about how we can become better disciples of Christ and how that can help out investigators! It was super awesome, and their is no better time to do it than right now during #LightTheWorld! I hope you guys are doing it wherever you are!

Sorry I know it’s not a lot but I will have more next week! Love you guys and hope you have a great week!

Making tortillas.....

Hey everyone! Hope you guys had a good week! This week was pretty solid! First off we played soccer last p day against another zone and kicked their butts haha! It was really fun and we had a good time!

This week we where helping out our hermanas a lot with their investigator Daniel. He is the coolest kid I have ever met no lie! He was baptized yesterday and it was awesome! He is teaching me and Elder Fraley how to play soccer, and in return I am going to teach him how to play baseball! He is so cool haha!

We had to have another elder with us for 2 days because his companion had to go back to Utah and sign some papers. He is from the Dominican Republic so that’s why, but we where running around everywhere trying to talk to people so we where pretty busy doing that!

Also this week we learned how to make flour tortillas and papas con juevo and it was so good! I can also make a spicy salsa so you guys can try it when I get home!

Also we had a stake party and one of our investigators Lupe came! She is super awesome and so nice to us! We are like her best friends and he son Ryder is awesome too!

That’s all I really got this week! Love you guys and hope you have a great week! And I’m thankful for all of you and everything you have done for me! Have a great thanksgiving!

Sweater Weather Finally...

Hey everyone! Hope things are going good for you guys! This was a pretty solid week in Houston!

At the beginning of the week I had the opportunity to go on exchanges with another elder which was pretty good! Got to help him out with somethings. It was kind of chilly this week and I got to whip out the sweater! Hopefully it gets colder because I hate the heat so much haha! We also had our ward thanksgiving party which was pretty fun! We had like 8 turkeys and 2 hams and a bunch of other food, but I was disappointed because for a thanksgiving party they had no pumpkin pie and I was super bummed....

This week we played soccer obviously which was fun! The hermanas have a really cool investigator named Daniel and he came and played with us, and he embarrassed the crap out of me like 10 times. I definitely need to improve some of my soccer skills! We get to play another zone this p day in soccer and I’m super hyped for that!

MOVIE OF THE WEEK

Funny story we where trying to find some people to talk to or help out so we went to the store and tried to look for people. Nothing really came out of it, so I went and got a drink and i was paying for it I hear in the background someone say “ hey boo” and I really didn’t think much of it but then I heard it again so I turned around and this black lady was like staring at me and said to me “what’s up boo” and I was nice and said what’s up, but it was super obvious that she was trying to hit on me and I was having none of that so we dipped out of the heir as fast as we could haha!

I have so many things to be grateful for right now! I love being a missionary and I love this gospel! Love you guys and hope you have a great week!

World Series Champions...The Houston Astros

Hey everyone! This week in H-town was of the chains!

First off GO ASTROS! People down here are going nuts! First off they canceled school so people would go to the parade. Didn’t really help us out because literally everyone was gone and we had no one to talk to haha! Then we heard that the check out line at dicks sporting goods was over a 2 hour wait just to get a shirt or something! People are going crazy for them!

On Halloween we had a leadership training that was really good! Our mission is going to change a lot in the future and I am really excited! Great things are coming and that’s exactly what this mission needs!

We have some good investigators right now. Maria Gil has been a little wishy-washy but we are going to talk with her this week!

We had a regional stake conference and it was like a mini general conference! We had the opportunity to listen to Elder Christoferson which was really good! He talked about how we can listen to the prophet even though he has been silent for a little bit. We need to listen to what he has said to us in the past, try and follow his example, and simple things like that. I love him and sustain him!

That’s all I got this week! Love you guys and hope you have a great week!

GO ASTROS....

Hey everyone hope you guys had a good week! Good week here in h-town!

First things first GO ASTROS! Everyone down here is going crazy, and I really hope they win so I can see some people freak out! That would be pretty cool! Anyways the hype is real down here!

Our investigator Maria had her interview for baptism this week and she didn’t pass... She is still legally married but doesn’t live with the dude anymore and she is living with her boyfriend. She did say she wants to get married so she could get baptized so that’s good! She is still coming to church and everything! She is so cool!

Of course we played soccer this week which is always a good time! It was freaking cold last week so I got to pull out the sweater! We had a ward Halloween party and is was pretty fun! Had a DJ and everything, it was pretty cool! I had the privilege to have a district meeting with the AP’s so that was interesting. We got to help make some dope tacos and I am going to have Facebook from now on. That’s really everything that is happening here! Oh and Halloween 🎃

Love you guys! I know this gospel is true and the book is blue haha!

Have a great week!

Got Shot At....

Hey everyone hope you all had a great week this! This was a pretty crazy week! Go Astros!

To start thing off we got SHOT AT!!!!! It was pretty crazy Elder Fraley was a real champ and took one for the team. Luckily the paint came out really easy haha! Don’t worry it was just paint balls! Kind of crazy we where just riding our bikes down the street and they just let them fly! It was pretty funny!

Other than that it was a pretty normal week. As usual we played a lot of soccer and on Thursday we where playing and we had 12 investigators their and one of the young men in our ward handed each of them a Book of Mormon! It was pretty cool to see! Maria Gil will probably be baptized soon so please keep her in your prayers!

Well I had the opportunity to speak in sacrament meeting this week and I talked about our life here on earth and how the choices we make are so important! God has a plan for all of us and when we choose to follow his plan we will be blessed, but their is also Satan’s plan that can drag us down to misery, and unhappiness in the long run!

Love you guys and hope you have a awesome week!

Aloha...

Hey everyone! Hope you guys had a great week! This was a really good week here in Houston!

So to start things off I had exchanges with my MTC companion Elder Thomas, in my old area, so it was good to talk with him and go talk with some of the members in galena park!

We also played a lot of soccer this week which is always fun! Not gonna lie I am getting pretty good! Our ward loves to play soccer and that’s what brings in a lot of our investigators! It’s a super good finding activity! I like to compare myself to the great Zlatan Ibrahimovic. If you don’t know him, look him up I play just like that.

This week we had the opportunity to have interviews with President Hewlett! I love that man so much! He is so loving and caring it is awesome! Elder Hallstrom also came down and had a zone conference with him which was awesome! I have no doubt in my mind that that man is called of god! He spit some fire quotes and it was cool to be apart of!

Then on Sunday was had the opportunity to start up service again! My inner craftsman came out and I taught the members how to put up drywall! The thing that was the coolest for me is that I was understanding everything they where saying, and hopefully they where understanding me haha! But we got to do it for one of our investigators and hopefully they will want to listen to us more haha!

That’s really all I got this week! I know this church is true and that being a missionary is super fun! Love you guys and hope you have a great week!

Que Pasa Mufasa

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great week this week! It was a great week here!

Well to start off the week we where playing soccer on p-day and a hermana kicked my leg and broke her toe haha!

María Gil came to church this week so that was awesome! When she got here she was quickly welcomed be the members and it was awesome to see the members involved! The members here as of late have been really awesome! One is going to buy groceries for us today and things like that! The members here are awesome!

So as of late we have been going to sushi place called sushi koi! I love that place so much! We are in super tight with the workers we are on a first name basis with them haha! I love sushi so much haha! I hate American food now I’m not gonna lie haha!

We got to have a special study with President Rascon and it was awesome! We talked about the importance of the sacrament and things like that. We went to his house and it’s super nice! He has a wall full of awards which is pretty dope! He is such a cool guy haha :)

One thing I have been studying is repentance! It’s something that we all need. Some people think it’s a bad thing, but really it’s us showing our Heavenly Father that we are change. When we do that god will find ways to bless us because we trust him! It’s not only a Sunday thing also. It’s something we need to do everyday because we are not perfect.

I love you guys and thank you so much for the emails! Hope you all have a great week!

長老ストリングフェロー

Hey everyone! Hope you guys had a great week! Not gonna lie, after this weekend I think everyone is on a spiritual high, especially me haha! It was so good, and it was a great week to do missionary work as well!

This week was full of soccer playing! We played soccer on Tuesday and Thursday and it was great we had investigators their each day pretty much! One of our church members brought 5 kids from his soccer team to play some indoor soccer with us in Thursday! I have come to love soccer since I have been out here! I’ve got mad respect for the guys that actually play, because not gonna lie I’m gasping for air, and I probably loose a good 10 lbs of sweat after every game! But it’s ok because the members love it and it’s a great way to show investigators that we are actually normal people haha!

We had one of our really solid investigators come to watch conference with us on Saturday! Her name is Maria Gil and she is such so awesome! She has had lots of troubles in her life between losing two of her sons to overdoses, her husband leaving her, and be unemployed for a long time! The talks that she listened to in conference was just what she needed! When we where walking her out she seemed so happy and what not! Really was awesome!

Man I don’t even know where to star about conference! I really liked how they talk from President Uchtdorf about how we we can light other people’s lives through our examples and though trying to follow the example of our light Jesus Christ! Then I also really liked the talk that president Eyring gave in the priesthood session about priesthood callings and when we have faith we can receive revelation and excel more than we think we can! Our Heavenly Father wants to help us! I’ve have learned that the world is soooooo stupid haha! They made it seem so simple this conference of what we need to do to gain eternal life but so many people are caught up about how others look at them instead of god! You are perfect in his eyes! He knows your potential! He doesn’t care who you once where, he wants you to become the person he knows you can become!

I love you guys and hope you have a great week!
