5 investigators at Church....

Hey everyone hope you guys had a good week! This was a great week here in liberty, the only bad thing is that my boy Elder Johnson is getting transferred and I will be getting my new companion later today!  We will see how that goes!

This week not really a whole lot happened. We got to go to the temple on Thursday and do a session and it was great! You always feel the spirit when you are there and for me personally I always feel at peace and I love that about the temple! Got to go eat at Wendy's after for the first time in a long time and that was great lol!

This Friday and Saturday the city of liberty had a jubilee festival and there was a ton of people here in town! We went there to try and talk to some people but they really didn't care haha! We did however get some really cool blankets from a trading post for like 10 bucks so that was sweet haha! We are a little mad at ourselves because they had a ton of BBQ there and we thought that it was going to be super expensive, but no all the stuff they had was free because it was a big cook off....We where bummed about that...

But it's ok because on Sunday at sacrament meeting we had 5 investigators there!!! It was so awesome to see that all of our bike riding is paying off! We had the Garcia family there including almost all the brothers which are less active. We are getting in pretty tight with the brother Noe and his wife Laura! They are super awesome Laura is not a member and is super interested and whenever we are with her she is always talking about baptism and how she thinks of important for her in her life right now! She and Noe are super cool! We also had our 2 favorite sister Rosa and Rosa there as well! Both of them are so in tune with the spirit, it's unbelievable! They are really awesome and I am super excited about them! For the month of April, we have 8 people scheduled with a baptismal date! Super excited to see what's going to happen!

This weekend I am super excited for a couple things.. For my first birthday out in the mission field, but more excited for the opportunity to listen to general conference! I can't wait to see what they have to say! I know that we have living prophets and apostles here on the earth today and they really our the mouthpiece for god! I am so grateful for them, and grateful for the opportunity to be a missionary! Life's great :)

Love you guys and hope you have a great week!

Hola Amigos :)

Hey everyone hope you all had a great week! Everything here in Liberty is going great! Saw lots of miracles this week! Can't believe I have been here since the new year! Time really does fly by!

So this last p-day we went to an English members home to help out the kids and the farm. The kids are so awesome. All of them have needs and the mom just left the dad to deal with them on his own. I feel really bad for the guy but he really does try his best to make his kids happy. Anyways we had a great time and had a lot of fun!

Me and Elder Johnson where riding our bikes down the street one afternoon and we look to our right and we see big giant pit-bull running straight at us and he is ready to kill!! Me and Elder Johnson where just sitting thinking ah man we are gonna die! Then out of nowhere we see the dog run full blast into a tree head on! The thing folded up like an a accordion and the sound sounded like he just got lit up by ray Lewis or someone like that. The dog turned around and went back to his house whimpering and what not, and we where like what the heck just happened haha!

So last night we had the opportunity to have President Rascon (the guy from the news) come on a lesson with us to go talk to la familia Garcia. This is the family that we always do service for and the dad has a total man crush on President Rascon. The reason he has a man crush is because hermano Garcia decided to go to church one Sunday about 3 years ago and at the time President Rascon was in the stake presidency and he was there at their Elders quorum meeting.  Hermano Garcia told us that Rascon came in their asked the teacher to bear his testimony and from there on Rascon taught the lesson because the guy was reading straight out of the book. Hermano Garcia told us that the lesson he taught that day was the best lesson that he has every heard. President Rascon taught with the spirit he said and it was amazing!

Well President Rascon doesn't know anything about this story, or about the giant man crush Hermano Garcia has on him. We taught

The lesson and President goes off in a very good way! He has the 2 kids committed to a baptismal date for April 9th with the dad baptizing them, and he made a goal with them to go to the temple later this year to get sealed as a family, and he wants to be there to witness all of this!  The two of them clicked really well and me and Elder Johnson just sat there and let him do his thing!  We talked with President after the lesson and we told him about the man crush and the story he told us, and right after we told him the story he pulled over and told us that he felt so spiritually impressed to go over to the ward that day and teach the lesson and he had no idea why! President then told us that that he had received an answer to the question of why he was supposed to do that! The lesson we had with that family last night was really 3 years in the making! The lord really does work in mysterious ways!

After last night and everything else that has happened this week, there in no doubt in my mind that this church is true and that he really is guiding and directing his people! I hope all of this makes sense haha! Love all you guys and hope you all have a great week!

Hola

Hey everyone hope you guys had a great week! This was a great/busy week here in liberty! We are working with some people right now that are doing great!

We are still working with Rosa and Jose, Lali and Anthony, and their family, and we have a girl named Esmeralda that we are working with and they are all doing awesome except the fact that none of them showed up to church lol! Other than these people, we really just try to find people all day. We met some lady that is a pastelero which means all she does all day is bake cakes and Pan Dulce! She said she would hook us up with some free cakes if we stopped by and asked. Don't know how interested she is but thats ok, she is giving us some free cake haha! Anyways please continue to keep these people in your prayers!

Our Friend Enrique Chavez that we baptized a few weeks ago had the opportunity to pass the sacrament this Sunday which was really cool to see! He is struggling a little bit right now, but after he passed he said that he felt good again which is good!

Funny thing that happened this week happened on Saturday when we where talking with Rosa and Jose, and we where talking about how we need to stay on the right path so that we can receive those blessings that God has for us. Rosa said that she always wants to stay on the path because she doesn't want the chancla from god because that would hurt really bad! When she said that I was laughing super hard and it was a little hard to teach after that because we where joking around after that! She is going to teach us how to make Pupusas, and we are going to teach her how to make Flan this Friday, so we will see how that goes!

This week I was thinking and I was thinking about how blessed I am to be here on a mission! I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve the lord and come closer to him!

I love being a missionary! Love you guys hope you have a great week!

Qué pasó amigos

Hey everyone hope you all had a great week! This was just another week here in liberty!
Everything here has been going really good but it's also been a little slow... we really try talk to the same people everyday and most of them just ignore us but that's alright I guess. The main thing we have been trying to work on here in this area is with the less active members. That's really our main goal right now and we have 2 kids on date for baptism for the 19th of march. These kids are really cool and they are ready they just need their parents to get back on the path. So please pray for them if you can!
About a week ago we actually found someone that we haven't talked to that was Hispanic. Her name is Rosalauren, and she has a son named José . It was kind of crazy the first time we met them because they actually invited us into their house to talk. Not a whole lot of people here in Texas do that. We had a great lesson with them and we went back this week and we taught the plan of salvation and that was awesome! Me and Rosa got to this point in the lesson where she would ask me a question and I would answer, and then I would ask a question and she would answer. That went on for like 45 minutes haha! I feel like my Spanish is getting better each and everyday! Now just trying to help Elder Johnson find his rhythm.
This week was really fun! We got to see same cool guns and we bought some du-rags for 50 cents at the thrift store, so now we feel like thugs haha! Just biking around all the time calls for some good times! You see things that you never see while riding in a car and you see some pretty crazy things, and talk to some pretty crazy here in Texas! Some girl said I looked like a model she knew.. that was a shock but hey I'll take the compliment haha!
I finished the Book of Mormon about 2 weeks ago and all I can say is that the Book of Mormon is awesome! You learn so many things from the Book but the most important thing I learned while reading is that god really does love all of his children. He has ways for us to return to him we just need to do our part so he can help us more!
Love you guys and hope you have a great week!

Racoon Tails...

Hey everyone hope you guys had a great week! We had a good week here in liberty!
We did a lot of finding this week and we found some pretty interesting people! We found this woman named carmen and she had some pretty interesting stories how she would smuggle immigrants across the border and how she got away with it haha! She then told us how she would beat the crap out of her husband's, and about the time she was hit by a train. Very interesting lady haha! We also found a lady and her son that are pretty interested and want to learn more! Her son weighs about 315 pounds and he is in high school! Huge dude!
This Friday we went on exchanges with our zone leader Elder Galland. We had a great day and we got ourselves a raccoon tail. After district meeting we were biking out and we saw this dog sniffing a raccoon on the ground. We thought it was dead so we went over to try and get the dog away and when we got over there the thing was still breathing! So we called up one of our members to bring his pellet gun and end his misery. We did that then we decided we wanted the tail so we took it around back and we cut off it's tail and skinned it later that night! Other than that we had an awesome day and found some cool people to teach!
We had a good day Sunday. We didn't have any investigators at church but we did receive a visit from President Rascon and he is an amazing man! He is in the mission presidency and he also does the 6:00 news for the city of Houston on ABC. He relays so much on the spirit and it's honestly the most incredible thing o have ever seen! We had the opportunity to give one of the sister missionaries with him and he gave the blessing and it was honestly amazing! After church he came to visit our less active friend with us and president pretty much threw down the hammer! It went super good!
That's all that really happens this week.  Love you guys and hope you all have a great week!
