Another Great Week...The Blessing of Blessings

Hey everyone hope you guys had a good week! This week was awesome and we had so cool things happen!

Surprisingly we had a baptism this Sunday! Elder Johnson had the opportunity to baptize and kid named Enrique C. Us and the hermanas have kind of been working with him together even though he lives in the hermanas area. We had to help the hermanas because Enrique is not the biggest fan of women and he likes talking to us guys. So we had to go over with the hermanas every lesson and pretty much teach him because he wouldn't listen to the hermanas lol! So we where teaching him this week just me and Elder Johnson and he said that he wanted to be baptized and he wanted Elder Johnson to baptize him. It was a big surprise to use but we where like OK ya let's get this done, and so we called the hermanas and told them and they where super excited! Yesterday was an awesome day and Enrique is going to be such an example to his family! He has had such a big impact on his family that his mom who has been talking with the missionaries for over a year now wants to stop smoking an drinking and wants to be baptized in 2 weeks by one of our recent converts! Super awesome for Enrique and his family!

Other than that nothing really exciting happened. We just did missionary work pretty much the whole week. On Thursday and Friday we biked around 45 miles on the highway and that was super fun! Cars honking at us and people screaming at us. Makes me laugh most of the time. We had to bike on the highways because we are working with this recent convert so that he can get the priesthood and go do baptisms this Saturday at the temple. We go over there and he says that he wants a blessing. We said we can do that and I go to get out my oil and it's empty..... I was super nervous cause Elder Johnson didn't have any and Josh our recent convert really wanted this blessing because he hasn't been feeling great. I showed Elder Johnson that I didn't have any but I might be able to get just around the outside edges. I go up there and get ready to anoint the oil with the oil I didn't have and I went to put really nothing on my finger and a whole bunch of oil comes out! I was in shock because it was completely empty right before I went up there. So we went ahead and did everything and gave him a blessing and after the blessing he felt like a changed man he said. I guess he really needed that blessing! That was our miracle for the week I guess you could say!
Transfers are coming up this week and I am pretty sure that I will be staying! But who knows haha! Any ways love you guys and hope you have a good week!

Honoring Your Mother...Just Like the Stripling Warriors!

Hey everyone hope you guys had a good week! Been a busy couple weeks but everything has been good!

This past Tuesday was just a day full of missionary work. Wednesday was a little crazy! We went and taught a lesson with some kid named Allen D., and he is this kid who reads anti-Mormon stuff all day. He tries to roast us but we just show him one of Elder Holland's talks and his talks blow that anti-Mormon crap out of the water. He gives us a new book to read every time and they are super weird, and they just sit in our apartment. After that lesson we were going to bike back home and grab something real quick, but on the way back we got stuck in a hurricane haha!! We where riding our bikes and we couldn't see 3ft in front of us. It was so much fun, but kind of scary because you couldn't really tell when I car was coming and some got super close to hitting us! But we made it home safe but we where completely soaked! Went home and changed real quick but then a member came and brought us and the English elders some pizza and we talked with him for a while so that was pretty fun!

Thursday was just a normal day. Friday we had to go on exchanges with the zone leader Elder W., The kid is cool but he is a little on the weird side.  He talked about some weird things until like 12:30pm. I was zoned out most of the time haha! But we did have a good day with him and got a lot of work done.

Saturday we had service for quite a while. We helped some members move out and manage their yard sale. I got to be the translator and that was some good practice for me. After that we helped the Hermanas teach this kid named Enrique. He is super cool but super quiet. We only went over there because he likes us Elders more the the Hermanas. We had a really good lesson with them. Later that night we played soccer at the church with this less active family. They are also super cool and we are really tight with them. We are working with their kids so they can be baptized but they need to start coming to church. So we set up soccer on Saturday nights so that we talk about church with them after. Well it worked they came to church and so did Enrique! It was a very good sacrament meeting. Later that night I got to go on member splits with President Escobar. He is a really cool guy and is one of the top dawgs in the police department for a city just outside of Houston. We talked about some crazy things! But he is a really cool guy!

I finished Alma this last week and I love the story of the Stripling Warriors. The thing I love the most is how much faith and courage they had, and how much they relied on the lord. This story is especially helpful because we need to have so much faith and courage in everything that we do. That's one thing we have been trying to work on as a companionship. I also love how they listen to their mothers. Shout out to my mom for always telling me to do what is right and helping me be who I am today!

I know it's a long letter but I didn't get to write anything for a while but love you guys and hope you have a good week!

No Letter this Week

We did not receive a letter or email from Elder Stringfellow this week due to technical problems with his iPad and the Internet.  But on the bright side, sometimes no news is good news!

Hola and "BetsyThe Pig"

Hey everyone hope you all had a good week! This was a good week and we got a lot of work done and had so much fun!

Tuesday and Wednesday we pretty much just knocked houses all day and we found a girl and she is awesome! Her name is Maria and she has special needs but she is awesome! Her Spanish is kind of hard to understand but she told us that she read the Book of Mormon and that it made her feel happy! We gave her a date for January 22, but we will see because her parents are straight catholic and they don't seem very nice, but we will see. Keep her in your prayers please!

Friday was zone meeting and that was good! We got a new mission goal to get 888 baptisms for the year of 2017! Seems a little hard but I think we can do it! After that we went to go do some work but it was so cold! The highs where only in the 30's and it didn't help that we where on bikes and that the wind was blowing, but overall we had a pretty good day! Saturday was really cold too but we went to go help out a member from the English ward with his animals and he has a huge pig named Betsy. She was huge and Elder Fainga'a wanted to roast it so bad it was super funny!

That's all we really did this week but I have been reading a lot in the Book of Mormon! I read a lot in Alma and I was studying in Alma 32 where it talks a lot about faith.  Faith is so important on a mission. You really need to have faith in everything you do our you will not have success. I have found that out the hard way. Rely on the lord in everything you do, because he really wants to help you but you need to have that faith so he can help you.

Love you guys and hope you have a good week!
