Honoring Your Mother...Just Like the Stripling Warriors!

Hey everyone hope you guys had a good week! Been a busy couple weeks but everything has been good!

This past Tuesday was just a day full of missionary work. Wednesday was a little crazy! We went and taught a lesson with some kid named Allen D., and he is this kid who reads anti-Mormon stuff all day. He tries to roast us but we just show him one of Elder Holland's talks and his talks blow that anti-Mormon crap out of the water. He gives us a new book to read every time and they are super weird, and they just sit in our apartment. After that lesson we were going to bike back home and grab something real quick, but on the way back we got stuck in a hurricane haha!! We where riding our bikes and we couldn't see 3ft in front of us. It was so much fun, but kind of scary because you couldn't really tell when I car was coming and some got super close to hitting us! But we made it home safe but we where completely soaked! Went home and changed real quick but then a member came and brought us and the English elders some pizza and we talked with him for a while so that was pretty fun!

Thursday was just a normal day. Friday we had to go on exchanges with the zone leader Elder W., The kid is cool but he is a little on the weird side.  He talked about some weird things until like 12:30pm. I was zoned out most of the time haha! But we did have a good day with him and got a lot of work done.

Saturday we had service for quite a while. We helped some members move out and manage their yard sale. I got to be the translator and that was some good practice for me. After that we helped the Hermanas teach this kid named Enrique. He is super cool but super quiet. We only went over there because he likes us Elders more the the Hermanas. We had a really good lesson with them. Later that night we played soccer at the church with this less active family. They are also super cool and we are really tight with them. We are working with their kids so they can be baptized but they need to start coming to church. So we set up soccer on Saturday nights so that we talk about church with them after. Well it worked they came to church and so did Enrique! It was a very good sacrament meeting. Later that night I got to go on member splits with President Escobar. He is a really cool guy and is one of the top dawgs in the police department for a city just outside of Houston. We talked about some crazy things! But he is a really cool guy!

I finished Alma this last week and I love the story of the Stripling Warriors. The thing I love the most is how much faith and courage they had, and how much they relied on the lord. This story is especially helpful because we need to have so much faith and courage in everything that we do. That's one thing we have been trying to work on as a companionship. I also love how they listen to their mothers. Shout out to my mom for always telling me to do what is right and helping me be who I am today!

I know it's a long letter but I didn't get to write anything for a while but love you guys and hope you have a good week!

Love, Elder Stringfellow
